Google Assistant for iOS is now available in Europe
Google Assistant for iOS is now available in Europe, as Google rolls out the app to the UK, Germany and France today. Assitant for iOS was first announced at Google I/O earlier this year, alongside a release for US users. The iOS version of Google’s virtual assistant is slightly more limited than the Android version, largely due to Apple’s API restrictions that prevent it from higher level system functions, like settings alarms or working as a true replacement for Siri on your home button. …

Asus ROG Zephyrus review: great at gaming, but not much else
What if your gaming laptop just looked like a laptop? That was the promise of Nvidia’s Max-Q tech that the company announced earlier this year — a new specification that could put the company’s most powerful GPUs into laptops that were just as thin, light, and quiet as a regular machine. The $2,699 Asus ROG Zephyrus is one of the first Max-Q designed laptops to come out, and it only partially succeeds. LeEco's next trick is a crowdfunded electric scooter

LeEco
Struggling Chinese conglomerate LeEco has resurfaced with an upcoming Kickstarter campaign, of all things, for a hybrid skateboard-scooter. The Scooterboard, as it’s known, is a lightweight, foldable, electric lean-to-steer rideable with a stated maximum speed of 15.5 mph and a range of 9.3 miles. Facebook adds monthly and seasonal recaps to On This Day
Remember 2007? This exact day 10 years ago was when I moved to college to start freshman year at Syracuse University, and I know that off the top of my head because Facebook won’t let me forget it every time late August rolls around. The Xbox One X probably isn't for you

The Xbox One X probably isn
As product pitches go, “the world’s most powerful console” is pretty straightforward. And in the case of the Xbox One X, it’s unambiguously true. Microsoft has built a potent powerhouse of a machine that outstrips its predecessors and competitors in capability. The Xbox One X is playable for the first time at this week’s Gamescom trade show in Cologne, Germany, and I’ve gotten to know it a little better in person. So, is the world’s most powerful console a slam dunk? Who wouldn’t want the wor…

What’s in your bag, Michael Moore?

What’s in your bag, Michael Moore?
What’s in your bag? is a recurring feature where we ask people to tell us a bit more about their everyday gadgets by opening their bags and hearts to us. This week, we’re featuring Verge Reviews Coordinator, Michael Moore. I generally aim to keep my bag as light as possible, so that it’s easier to maneuver through New York City, while also making sure I’m prepared for the most likely problems I could encounter. Those needs might make the contents of my bag a bit more about utility and redunda…
